In this session, Sara Ulius-Sabel (Sr. Staff UX Researcher at ServiceNow) explores how Lean Thinking — a systematic approach originating from Toyota’s manufacturing practices — can transform how we approach UX research operations.

Research teams are under increasing pressure to deliver more value with constrained resources. But what if the real problem isn’t doing more with less, but rather eliminating what doesn’t add value in the first place? Sara will share how Lean Thinking helped her identify and eliminate waste throughout her career, from UX design and user research at Whirlpool to UX research at ServiceNow.

We’ll explore the seven types of waste in research operations (waiting, defects, over-processing, inventory, motion, overproduction, and transportation) and how to systematically identify and eliminate them. We’ll also discuss a timely new dimension: How does AI fit into Lean Thinking? As AI becomes both a producer of research artifacts and a consumer of our inputs, how can we use this shift as a catalyst to fundamentally rethink value and waste?

Attendees will gain:

  • A framework for identifying the seven types of waste in their research operations
  • Practical strategies to minimize waste and maximize value for stakeholders
  • Understanding of how to apply Lean principles to AI integration in research
  • Actionable steps to audit and improve their research workflows

This session is ideal for UX researchers, research ops professionals, and research leaders seeking to operate more efficiently and deliver greater impact.

As research operations continue to mature, leaders are increasingly challenged to show clear, measurable impact, not just in what gets done, but in how it shapes decision-making, culture, and business outcomes. In this session, Pedro Vargas explores how to elevate ResearchOps from a support function to a strategic force within the organization.

Pedro will unpack:

  • Defining and demonstrating ResearchOps impact – focusing on outcomes over activities to show how research drives decisions, shapes culture, and fuels growth.

  • Using metrics to tell a compelling story – identifying what to measure, how to interpret data meaningfully, and when to go beyond numbers to capture the full value of research.

  • Building trust and influence with leadership – communicating impact clearly when navigating high-stakes contexts.

You’ll walk away with actionable strategies for quantifying and communicating impact, strengthening relationships with leadership, and embedding ResearchOps as a trusted, influential partner across your organization.

In this session, join Ned Dwyer and Pedro Vargas as they explore the importance of measuring research effort and impact through the Researcher Effort Score. Pedro’s development of the Researcher Effort Score—a metric similar to the Customer Effort Score—quantifies how easy or difficult it is to conduct research within an organization. This transforms the way companies demonstrate the impact of research, proving that it extends far beyond administrative work. With research teams under increasing pressure to do more with less, measuring impact has never been more important. This session will explore:
  • How the Researcher Effort Score works and why it matters.
  • Tactical ways to measure and communicate the impact of research and ResearchOps
  • How Great Question supports research teams in tracking and improving their researcher effort score.
This session is perfect for ResearchOps professionals, senior researchers, and organizational leaders aiming to streamline research processes and demonstrate the value of research and research ops.

Democratization of UX research is transforming how organizations generate and leverage insights. While empowering more teams to conduct research leads to faster decision-making and greater customer centricity, it also presents challenges—ensuring consistency, maintaining research quality and rigor, and avoiding misinterpretation.

In this session, Will Yanko, PhD, Senior Researcher & Research Operations Coordinator at Flight Centre Travel Group – Leisure, joins us to share how he has successfully democratized research within a global company of 3,000 employees, despite having only two full-time researchers. Will has extensive experience in research and has led Flight Centre towards a culture of customer-centricity through an innovative research empowerment program.

In this session, we’ll explore:

  • How Flight Centre empowers teams to conduct research effectively
  • Real-world strategies for scaling research while ensuring rigor and consistency
  • Overcoming barriers to democratization, from funding limitations to tool consolidation
  • Measuring the ROI of research
  • What to look for in research tooling to support democratization

Plus, take home Will’s research framework template!

This webinar is ideal for UX researchers, ResearchOps professionals or organizational leaders looking for real-world insights on how to successfully scale research across the organization.

In the fast-paced world of product development, it’s easy to get caught in a cycle that feels productive but actually stifles innovation and growth. We refer to this cycle as “The Evaluative Loop,” and it can become a comfort zone for many of us in teams.

However, there’s a more effective path to creating products that resonate deeply with users and drive impactful outcomes: generative research.

Join us for a panel event where we explore how to escape the evaluative loop and the power of generative research.
